AccuBell Talking Caller ID |
. |
Q1. When I am on Internet or Online, I cannot open the AccuBell program. Or vice versa when AccuBell Program is
running, I cannot connect to the Internet. A message pops up "Modem Port is Busy with other Application! You may either close other Application or run AccuBell Talking Caller ID with Modem Port released."
|
. |
Ans.
Unfortunately, there is an inherent problem with Modem and window applications, that these cannot share their resources same time. So your computer Modem at one time can only be used either by AccuBell program or by another application such as Internet Browser. When this message pops up, you have the choice to either close the Internet session and starts AccuBell program, or continue browsing Internet and run AccuBell program in system tray with COM port not connected. The icon changes its color to display that AccuBell is OFF. Whenever you close the Internet connection and like to turn ON AccuBell, just place the mouse on AccuBell icon in system tray and do right mouse click. A menu pops up. Now select 'Connect Port' and do left mouse click.

Unfortunately, there is an inherent problem with Modem and window applications, that these cannot share their resources same time. So your computer Modem at one time can only be used either by AccuBell program or by another application using Modem. It seems that you have installed a program, which uses Modem and opens at the startup, before AccuBell opens up. The only solution is that, you need to either take out this other program from startup menu or uninstall it from your computer.

Q3. How AccuBell program helps in getting real time phone calls when my phone line is hooked up to Internet using Modem? Can
AccuBell program help me even I do not have caller ID service from my Phone Company? |
. |
Ans.
AccuBell program has a feature of Call Forwarding to a second phone. This second phone can be your Mobile. For one time setup, go to menu 'Setup' and enter your Mobile Number. Select Yes to 'Call Forwarding Enable'. Click 'Apply' and now you are set to use this feature anytime you want. Whenever you like to go to Internet, first turn On the Mobile phone and then just click the AccuBell big button on top left. Your Mobile will ring, just answer it and you are set for this session. All your incoming calls will arrive real time on to your Mobile and you will not miss any single call. Whenever you close the Internet session, then just click back the top left button and you are set back to receive calls on you home phone.
The above feature works irrespective of your Caller ID service status. It means that users, who do not have monthly paid service of Caller ID from their Phone Company, can still benefit from this
feature, free of charge. |

Q4. At the very start up Modem Setup window opens and try to search for Modem, but after while a message window pops up that
"Program did not find a Modem on a valid COM Port". What shoud I do? |
. |
Ans.
AccuBell program is designed to automatically search for a valid Modem on a Com Port. Usually Modem resides on COM Port 1 to 4. Some computers may have it on up to Com Port 16. Program checks Modem on each Com Port by sending AT Command one by one and if the result is not successful, then it display the message. Some computers might have old Modems, which are impossible to detect. For your ease, a manual button is also provided on Modem Setup window. Select the desired COM Port and click button to check Modem.

Q5. Program found the Modem, but it shows that Modem does not support caller ID. What is this means? |
. |
Ans.
It means that your computer has the Modem on a valid COM Port but do not supports the Caller ID. So AccuBell program will not be able to perform its various caller ID features. Although, you still can benefit from its 'Call Forwarding' feature. The best solution is to get an External Caller ID Modem.

| |
Q6. Rarely sometimes Caller ID window do not pops up and I do not get the Caller ID information. What is the reason? |
. |
Ans.
You probably got an Internal Modem, which is software based or controller-less. In other words the Modem is a lower cost entry Modem, which do not have its own microprocessor or CPU and it utilizes the computer main CPU. Sometimes computer CPU is busy in a higher priority task and not able to support the Modem. Now if call arrives right at this time, then Modem is not able to get it. This scenario is not common and most computer architectures are designed to take care of it. The best solution is to get an External Modem, which runs independently, and always respond to an incoming call.

Q7. Why Caller ID Display gets incomplete Name and Number or wrong information? Or the message window pops up "Your Modem or
Phone Company do not show Caller ID !!" |
. |
Ans.
Phone companies have various standards of sending caller ID information in different states and countries. AccuBell program is designed to take care of these various standards, but we might have missed a specific protocol. You may help us in this regard. Please send us the 'acsetup.bin' file to analyze the Caller ID string. This file should be in the path C:\Program Files\AccuBell Talking Caller ID.

Q9. I use DSL Modem to connect to internet and also have installed AccuBell program, but still do not gets Caller ID on my
computer desktop. What is the reason? |
. |
Ans.
Most of us when gets DSL Modem for Internet connection, ignore the old friend Modem in the computer. We usually take out the Phone line connected to Modem, and plug it into DSL Modem. In order to use the computer Modem for Caller ID, we need to connect these Modems with DSL filter. Almost all ISPs and Phone companies now supply DSL Modem with bunch of DSL filters. The use of this filter is to use home phone line and DSL Modem together. The right way is to connect the phone line to 'LINE' connection of DSL filter, DSL Modem 'LINE' connection to 'DSL HPN' connection of DSL filter and computer Modem to 'PHONE' connection of DSL filter.
